A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
How does the process work?
Your initial design consultation is complimentary. We’ll discuss your ideas, answer questions, and, when helpful, provide quick preliminary sketches to help develop the concept. Once you’re happy with the direction and would like to move forward, a CAD deposit is required to begin the detailed computer-aided design of your piece. The CAD deposit is applied toward the final cost of your jewelry.
How many design revisions are included?
Your custom design includes reasonable revisions during the CAD stage so we can refine the piece with you. Significant changes to the original concept or additional redesigns may require an additional design fee, which will always be discussed with you beforehand..
Can I change the design after approving the CAD?
Once a CAD has been approved and production has begun, changes may not always be possible. When changes can be accommodated, additional costs and production time may apply. We’ll confirm any changes with you before proceeding.
Do I have to leave a deposit?
Once your CAD design is approved, a 50% deposit secures your project and allows us to begin production, including materials, stones and fabrication. The remaining balance is due before your finished piece is shipped or delivered.
Do I receive the CAD files?
CAD renderings are provided for reviewing and approving your design. The underlying CAD files, technical drawings and other production files remain the property of Michael Hogan Jewelry unless otherwise agreed to in writing.
How long does production take?
Wedding jewelry—including engagement rings and wedding bands—typically takes 2–4 weeks, though some pieces may require 6–8 weeks. Most other custom jewelry takes 6–8 weeks, while complex projects, such as watches, may take several months.
We’ll provide a more precise estimate once your design is established. Because every custom piece is made for the first time, exact completion dates cannot be guaranteed. We’ll keep you informed throughout the process.
Can I cancel or return a custom piece?
Because custom pieces are created specifically for you, custom and personalized orders are final sale once production has begun. If you need to cancel before production begins, contact us as soon as possible and we’ll let you know what options are available.
How is my piece shipped?
Finished pieces are carefully packaged and shipped using a secure, insured service with tracking. Signature confirmation may be required for delivery. Shipping details will be provided once your piece is ready.
